Infusing Factor

"Infusing factor" means to inject the factor into a vein using a needle. It's another way of saying "giving factor." Before it can be injected into a vein, the factor powder must be dissolved in a liquid. This section describes the steps to take to mix the factor and to infuse it. This information is not intended to take the place of face-to-face teaching by your Hemophilia nurse. Also, some of the steps are different for each brand of factor. You should always read the instructions that come with your brand of factor and call your HTC with any questions.

Learning to inject factor takes some time. The section Learning Home Therapy gives a checklist to help you decide if you are ready to learn.

All the steps to prepare and infuse factor are listed together here. Clicking on a step opens a new window where it is described in more detail. Hints for success, cautions, and what to do if there are problems are also given.
