Holiday Happenings at Callaway Gardens
By Kim Williams, Director of Camp and Client Events
Hemophilia of Georgia offered families in the bleeding disorder community of Georgia an opportunity to celebrate the holiday season together. More than 115 families took advantage of the opportunity to network with other families and enjoy a wonderful day at Callaway Gardens.
Families were able to visit the Virginia Hand Callaway Discovery Center, Day Butterfly Center, Sibley Horticultural Center, Mr. Cason's Vegetable Garden, Callaway Brothers Azalea Bowl, Overlook Garden, Discovery Bicycle Trail, Pioneer Log Cabin, Ida Cason Callaway Memorial Chapel, and the nature trails.
In the afternoon, an educational scavenger hunt was held and families competed to gather information about bleeding disorders and Hemophilia of Georgia services. Participants were entered into a drawing to win one of three Visa Gift Cards. After the scavenger hunt, everyone enjoyed a buffet dinner in the ballrooms at the Mountain Creek Inn.
After dark, we toured “Fantasy in Lights” at Callaway Gardens. The ride through the lights was magical. We sang carols, enjoyed a beautiful ride in an open air trolley, and were dazzled by holiday scene after holiday scene crafted out of millions of lights. This was a fun way to get into the holiday spirit. We had a wonderful time together, and I look forward to seeing all of you at future events!
