We arrived 40 years old in 2013 and because of you and your support here is what we accomplished in 2013….

We celebrated our anniversary at the Georgia Aquarium with over 700 families, volunteers, and treatment center staff present.

At our anniversary celebration we announced the endowment of an Adult Chair in Hematology at Emory University in honor of Dr. Sidney Stein and our support for the Emory Adult Fellowship program.

We continued to fund the Georgia treatment centers located at Emory/CHOA in Atlanta, Georgia Regents University in Augusta and The Children’s Hospital at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.

We added two additional walks to our Stone Mountain Trot to Clot Walk, one in Augusta and one in Columbus.

Our nurses and social workers visited with you and your community to provide home infusion training, on-going education, emergency care plans, school and emergency room in-services, referrals to resources and help with your insurance concerns.

Summer arrived quickly and we celebrated the 20th year of Camp Wannaklot with 129 campers present and 105 volunteers and staff; the largest, single-state, bleeding disorder camp in the country.

In October we held our 31st Annual “Hit  'Em for Hemophilia Golf Tournament”, raising close to $200,000 and we welcomed Kirstin Downie as our new Development Director and Kelli White, as our new Special Events/Volunteer Coordinator.

We continued our funding of research for a cure at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Emory University. In 2013, St. Jude restarted clinical trials after improving their gene therapy process.

The HoG pharmacy shipped 17,428,797 units of donated factor to 41 countries. The pharmacy shipped 142,500 of those units to the Philippines shortly after the recent typhoon.

At the conclusion of our financial audit in September, we learned that 97% of our total expenses went directly to programs and services for the bleeding disorders community, our highest percentage ever achieved.

We arrived 40 years old in 2013 because of you and your support of HoG.  Thank you for your helping hands and hearts.  Before the year ends, please consider a contribution to HoG in honor of you and your outstanding work on behalf of HoG!  Happy New Year from all of us to all of you, Trish Dominic, CEO.
