Dear HoG: Donating to HoG

Dear HoG:

Recently a colleague of my husband's died. The obituary said that instead of flowers, money could be donated to a favorite charity. I would like to give money to HoG, but can you tell me how I can do it in his name? Also, my son is planning a lemonade stand and wanted to know if he could donate part of the proceeds to Camp Wannaklot. Is this possible? Thanks for your help.

--Potential Donor

Dear Potential Donor:

There are several ways to make a donation in someone's name. You can visit our website at www.hog.org and click on the "Donate Now" icon. Then just follow the instructions online. It's easy.

If you do not have access to the Internet you can mail your check to the HoG office with:

  • your name and address
  • the name of the person who the donation is in memory or in honor of
  • the name and address of who you would like HoG to send an acknowledgement to

If you are uncomfortable sending credit card information, call the HoG office and ask to speak to Lorraine Scollan, Development Assistant. She will take your information. All financial information is confidential and will be treated as such. You may also specify which HoG program to apply the donation to (scholarship, safety, camp, research). If you do not designate a specific program, the contribution will be applied to our general fund account.

You can also make a donation as a tribute to a special person or event (such as birthday, anniversary, graduation). Follow the same instructions as a memorial donation by sending a check or credit card information noting what and who the donation is for and who should receive the acknowledgement.

As far as your son's lemonade stand proceeds, they can be designated to Camp Wannaklot, scholarship, safety, or research by noting it on the check. You can also call the HoG Development office and discuss how you would like the money to be applied. Thanks for thinking of us!
