Congratulations to Hemophilia of Georgia’s Vice President of Pharmacy Operations, Leigh Carpenter, RPh, who was elected to serve on the Hemophilia Alliance Board of Directors for a three-year term. Leigh is the only pharmacist currently serving on the board and brings 24 years of experience in bleeding disorder treatment, as well as expertise working with Medicaid, managed care organizations, and 340B pharmacy programs.

As Hemophilia of Georgia’s VP of Pharmacy Operations, Leigh oversees the day-to-day operations of the HoG and Beacon Pharmacies, as well as clinical program development, inventory management, compliance, quality, and customer satisfaction. For Leigh, it is “exciting to be on the board continuing to advocate for patients both on a local and national level and supporting member HTCs. It also feels a bit like coming full circle, particularly since early in my career I witnessed how Hemophilia of Georgia became a founding member of the Hemophilia Alliance when our former CEO, Trish Dominic, led the way for its creation in 2004.” Since then, the Hemophilia Alliance has been working to ensure member Hemophilia Treatment Centers have the expertise, resources, and public support to sustain integrated clinical and pharmacy services for individuals with bleeding and clotting disorders.

Leigh began her career at Hemophilia of Georgia (HoG) in 1998, with only a staff of two in the pharmacy. Under her leadership, the pharmacy staff has grown to ten. She has fostered the growth of Hemophilia of Georgia’s 340B program, expanded contract pharmacy relationships, and worked to obtain dual specialty pharmacy accreditation status with URAC and ACHC.

Additionally, Leigh led HoG’s participation in the World Federation of Hemophilia Humanitarian Aid project, shipping 500M+ units of donated factor products to 75 countries over 18 years and received the “International Outstanding Service Award.”

Leigh earned her Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Georgia and is licensed as a registered pharmacist in Georgia, Tennessee, and Louisiana.  She resides in Alpharetta, Georgia, with her husband, Tim.
