Ladies - Take Care of Your Hearts
Horizons in Hemophilia, February 2010
By Penny Kumpf RN, VWD Outreach Nurse
February is not only the month we honor those we love with all of our hearts, but it is also American Heart Health month. Which means it is time to take care of yourself so you will be able to care for those you love.
Georgia continues to rank as one of the highest in high blood pressure, obesity and not participating in any physical activity. The sad news about these statistics is that they are all preventable. Women today have a lot of responsibilities in caring for their families. But who could do it better than you? No one. So let’s focus on ourselves for 2010 and get our hearts in shape. You know you do it by making small steps. Try just changing just one thing so you won’t be one of those statistics. How about giving up those cigarettes for the last time, or eating five fruits and vegetables, or incorporating physical activity into more of your days?
Take care of yourself and you will enjoy many more Valentine's Days to come!
