Camp Wannaklot: What an Adventure!
Try as it might, COVID-19 could not put a damper on Camp Wannaklot. This year, we had 71 campers and volunteers join us online for five days of wacky costumes, games with friends, and learning with counselors. Our first-ever virtual event went off without a hitch thanks to the loyal support of our friends and Camp Twin Lakes.
Campers had a blast playing virtual Jeopardy and bingo hosted by our own outreach staff. There were arts and crafts, farming activities, and live sessions where campers could chat and laugh with their friends. Spirit Time was a blast.
Emily, one of our dedicated volunteers, said in one of her social media posts: “Reflecting back before our last snack chat ... I never would have thought this is what our camp would look like, but I’m so glad I joined in! We all got to sing and dance and grow closer as a group. We were able to see each other’s smiles, learn facts from our nurses, and dress up as a cabin just like our in-person camp, but this time was BETTER! More camps joined us. Family members joined us. Traditions of everyone came together. Can’t wait to see you all next year!”
We can’t either, Emily. Thanks to you and all our volunteers and staff for making this year’s camp an adventure of a lifetime!
