Inherited bleeding disorders are chronic conditions. It’s important to track chronic conditions to better manage them and receive the best care possible. Here are just a few reasons the National Hemophilia Foundation gives for tracking your treatments:

  • Treatment adjustments. Your care provider can use your treatment log to understand if your medications are working or if you need to change treatments or dosage. They can also tell if you have a target joint.
  • Insurance purposes. Most insurance carriers now require a treatment log to see if you are using factor as directed. It is also required for reimbursement.
  • Disability benefits. A treatment log provides information for disability claims. It can help you make a strong case if you apply for financial help from Social Security. A clear record of infusions and bleeding episodes can support your claim.
  • In case of recall or issue with factor. Your treatment log lets you know if you have received a product that has been recalled or for which an issue has been reported.
