Reduce Bleeds with Preventive Dental Care

By Theresa Schaffer, LCSW, Director of Social Work

Healthy teeth and gums are always important, but for those with inherited bleeding disorders, they mean avoiding potential bleeds – whether from gum disease or treatments. That’s why Hemophilia of Georgia (HoG) offers a dental care program for Georgians with bleeding disorders who qualify.

Our dental care program provides two free dental cleanings per year to qualified clients, which is the recommended number of dental visits, according to Steps for Living, a National Hemophilia Foundation program.

Am I Eligible?

To qualify for the program, you must be an HoG client who has hemophilia, von Willebrand Disease or another inherited bleeding disorder.

Additionally, you must reside in Georgia AND have been a permanent resident of Georgia for a minimum of one year.

Applicants also must provide proof of financial need.

If you meet these requirements and would like to apply, please call Theresa Schaffer, LCSW, director of social work, at 770-518-8272.
