Play Safe This Summer

Summertime is all about being outdoors and having fun. Sometimes fun, however, requires taking a few precautions, especially for children with inherited bleeding disorders.

While there is no way to prevent every accident or every bleed, there are steps you can take to reduce the chances of serious bleeds from outdoor activities. One of the easiest ways to keep your child safe is to have them wear protective gear while playing outdoors, especially when riding bicycles, skateboarding, inline skating, and other similar activities.

According to Kaiser Permanente, bicycle helmets alone reduce the risk of a head injury for any child – with or without bleeding disorders – by up to 88 percent.

Luckily for Hemophilia of Georgia clients, we offer free safety gear to Georgia children who have been diagnosed with an inherited bleeding disorder. Available equipment includes:
