The Important Role of Education in Comprehensive Care

By Coleen Lou, Director of Communications

Published November 1, 2024

For people living with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders, education to help manage their condition is a critical component of comprehensive care and support. Hemophilia of Georgia (HoG) understands the import role information has to empower individuals and their families to make informed choices about their health. Through a variety of educational resources, raising awareness, and understanding, we can better support individuals living with a bleeding disorder and make a meaningful difference in their lives.

In addition to our outreach nurses and social workers who provide in home education and support, Hemophilia of Georgia offers many educational events, an informational website and e-newsletter, and has an important, online educational resource, The Hemophilia, von Willebrand Disease & Platelet Disorders Handbook, that provide the most current and accurate information.

HoG works to support, strengthen, and empower individuals with bleeding disorders and their families as they face daily challenges with courage, perseverance, and resilience. It is our hope that one day no one will ever have to live in a world where bleeding disorders exist. Until then, together, we can create a world where people with hemophilia or other bleeding disorders receive the information, support, care, and compassion they deserve. Because at Hemophilia of Georgia, we know, it takes so much more than just medicine.
