Personalized Education at Home: One of the Many Services HoG Nurses Provide
Hemophilia of Georgia (HoG) understands the important role information has to empower individuals and their families to live fuller lives and make informed choices about their health. For people living with hemophilia or other bleeding disorders, education to help manage their condition is a critical component of comprehensive care and support.
HoG’s Outreach Nurses provide personalized care and training at home to help children and adults learn the skills needed to gain much desired independence and make a meaningful difference in their lives.
“I am glad my nurse, Hollie, is teaching me how to infuse myself. I know how important it is for me to be able to do this by myself.” – Walter, young patient.
Hemophilia of Georgia works to support, strengthen, and empower individuals with bleeding disorders and their families as they face daily challenges with courage, perseverance, and resilience. HoG recognizes that through education and raising awareness, we can better support individuals living with a bleeding disorder and improve their lives. In addition to our outreach nurses, HoG Social Workers provide in-home support and education. Additionally, Hemophilia of Georgia offers many educational events, an informational website and e-newsletter, and has an important, online educational resource, The Hemophilia, von Willebrand Disease & Platelet Disorders Handbook.
It is our hope that one day no one will ever have to live in a world where bleeding disorders exist. Until then, together, we can create a world where people with hemophilia or other bleeding disorders receive the information, support, care, and compassion they deserve. Because at Hemophilia of Georgia, we know, it takes so much more than just medicine.
