Parker Raises Money for Camp Wannaklot
A seven-year-old boy named Parker recently took up the challenge to raise money for Camp Wannaklot. Parker and his younger brother, Oliver (three years old), have been diagnosed with severe hemophilia B. Parker has a third, older brother Jacob (nine years old) without a bleeding disorder.
Parker attended camp for the first time in 2016. He loved the experience, especially fishing and archery. One day he wants to ride the giant swing. He really bonded with two counselors, Louis and Anthony, who were assigned to an older-age-group cabin. He thought they were hilarious when they sang “Olé!” Parker describes Camp Wannaklot as “really big.” His favorite part was when they took a hayride and enjoyed s’mores with his new buddies.
Parker learned from his mom that camp was expensive and that it cost $500 to send a camper for one week. He decided to take up the cause and help raise money for Camp Wannaklot. His mother, Kristie, reached out to friends and neighbors and came up with two ways to raise money. Friends Elaine and Sarah, donated proceeds from LuLaRoe Facebook Live contemporary clothing trunk shows they hosted. Another friend, Amber, donated 100% of the proceeds from her March Southern Vinyl sales by creating red ribbon and blood drop car decals. So far, Parker has raised $1,000. He knows that will send two campers for a week. Congratulations Parker. Your courageous spirit makes you a real hemophilia hero.
