Mighty Sticker Club
By Mary Ann McCullough, RN, Outreach Nurse
We have two new members to welcome to the Mighty Sticker Club!
Blake P. correctly demonstrated how to mix factor and infuse himself without difficulty. Blake has spent years watching his mother infuse him and practicing his infusion skills at Camp Wannaklot every summer. At this past Camp, he decided he wanted to do his infusions all by himself and be completely independent. He was presented a gift card and a framed Certificate of Completion.
Blake loves being a middle school student and enjoys learning about science. He wants to work in the medical profession and help others with the knowledge he has gained through his bleeding disorder.
Nolan A. wanted to spend the night away from home with his cousin but remembered he had to have his factor infusion while he was away. Since he knew this meant he needed to do his infusions by himself, he started working with his mother to learn the steps. He learned that if he taped down his butterfly needle, he could do the infusion without his mother’s help. Now Nolan can do his own infusions! He correctly demonstrated how to mix his factor and infuse himself. He was presented the Mighty Sticker Club Certificate and a gift card.
Nolan is in middle school, and he likes to learn about history and the Civil War. He lives in a county that General William T. Sherman and over 62,000 union soldiers converged on and marched to Savannah.
He also enjoys playing PlayStation with his brother and friends. He is a trainer for the middle school basketball team. He works the game clock and makes sure the game balls are at the proper inflation size. He is currently participating in a county level Science Fair with his project titled “The Fat Matters.” He explains why good fats are important in a healthy diet.
Congratulations to Blake and Nolan for being inducted into The Mighty Sticker Club! We are very proud of you and your hard work.
