Meet the Outreach Staff
This month’s featured employee is Christi Humphrey, LCSW. Christi has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She’s been at HoG for 17 years. She’s a self-proclaimed “military brat” and although not from anywhere in particular, has always lived in the South.
Christi found social work in college through her psychology classes. What people thought, how they felt, and how that impacted their behavior caught her attention. She became fascinated with how people deal with three big stressors of life: aging, illness, and dying. Their study became her focus and she became a lifelong student. As part of her Master’s program, she studied gerontology (the study of aging) and currently volunteers for the Alzheimer’s Group of Carroll County, which has support groups and free respite care services for families dealing with Alzheimer’s.
She has enjoyed her time at HoG and is glad for the opportunities she has had to get to know her clients. She has enjoyed watching the children grow up and sharing in people’s lives. She feels lucky to do this work and to be part of this special community.
