Hemophilia of Georgia's 26th annual Hit 'Em for Hemophilia Golf Tournament will be sponsored by some of the area's leading corporations and organizations including Hewlett-Packard and the Virgil P. Warren Foundation. The tournament, which supports critical research directed toward finding a cure for hemophilia, a hereditary blood clotting disorder that requires very expensive, life-long medical treatment, will be held October 28, 2008 at Château Élan Resort and Winery in Braselton, Georgia.

As the Official Team Prize sponsor, Hewlett-Packard will provide prizes for each member of the first, second, and third place finishing teams on each of the three courses at Château Élan. More than 400 corporate executives, local and sports celebrities, and invited guests are expected to participate in the tournament which also features an awards banquet, live auction, and raffle.

The Virgil P. Warren Foundation is a long term supporter of this event. According to Joseph Harris, Trustee of the Foundation, "this is a first class tournament and we are happy to help such a great cause. In fact, some of my friends have said the Hit 'Em for Hemophilia golf tournament is best tournament they've ever played."

Warren Foundation, key corporate sponsors of the 26th Annual Hit 'Em for Hemophilia Golf Tournament include ADT Security Systems, Amdocs, Andrew Wireless Solutions, AT & T Mobility, LLC, Baxter Healthcare Corporation, Bayer HealthCare, CSL Behring, LLC, Force 10 Networks, Grifols USA, LLC, Katt Worldwide, Nokia, Novo Nordisk, Inc., nsoro, LLC, Real Networks, Sony Ericsson, Syniverse Technologies and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.

About Hemophilia
Hemophilia is a hereditary genetic disorder in which a person's blood is not able to clot normally. In normal blood, proteins called clotting factors work together to form a clot whenever bleeding occurs. The person with hemophilia lacks or doesn't have enough of a certain clotting factor so the blood can't make a clot. Hemophilia is a very rare disorder, affecting about 17,000 people in the United States. People with hemophilia stop bleeding by taking an injection of the clotting factor that is missing from their blood. However, the clotting factor used to treat hemophilia is very expensive. Some patients reach their lifetime insurance maximum at very young ages.
