Junior Board Retreat and Fundraising Project – Spin for Kids
On July 8, the HoG Junior Board took the day to be mentored by Vic McCarty of McCarty Collaborative Consulting. Vic led the board members in creating a development and operations plan that will focus fundraising efforts for the next year. The board plans to host several campaigns and participate in several events to raise money for Hemophilia of Georgia and Camp Wannaklot.
The first of these events is Spin for Kids on October 15 at Camp Twin Lakes. Spin for Kids is Camp Twin Lakes' annual fundraising bike ride. The bike ride raises money for camp. Camp Twin Lakes specializes in children with serious illnesses, disabilities, or other life challenges.
Spin for Kids offers multiple routes for riders of all skill levels. Participants can choose from six scenic road routes: 5, 15, 27, 47, 62 or 100 miles. Along each route, riders enjoy delicious homemade goodies and local fare at the rest stops, while a dedicated team of first aid, route marshals, and bike technicians keeps riders safe.
Riders with young children can register their children to participate in day camp while their parents are riding. After crossing the finish line, riders join family and friends in a celebration of their accomplishments including delicious food, beer, live music and a chance to explore camp. After all, 100% of the funds raised by Spin for Kids riders help Camp Twin Lakes provide life-changing experiences for their campers and that’s something to celebrate.
