Hemophilia of Georgia Names Rebecca Babkiewicz Director of Telehealth

By Coleen Lou, Director of Communications

Published October 2, 2023

Hemophilia of Georgia (HoG) is proud and excited to announce that we recently named Rebecca Babkiewicz, MSN, RN, CPN the new Director of our Comprehensive Care Model Telehealth Program. Our first telehealth clinic site was launched in March 2021 in Savannah, Georgia and has been a great success. This year, we added a second telehealth clinic location in Perry, Georgia.

Rebecca has been working hard to ensure a smooth transition of the telehealth program which provides high-quality, comprehensive care and clinical services to the bleeding disorder community. Rebecca stated, “I look forward to continuing to build upon the success of this program. The last two years were spent establishing this program and developing processes in order to create a smooth-running operation. Currently at the Savannah and Perry locations, we have provided over 60 visits at our monthly clinics. Patients who are interested in attending one of our telehealth clinics should contact their HoG nurse or social worker.”

HoG recognizes that some patients struggle with their (HTC) Hemophilia Treatment Center appointments due to their individual life circumstances (for example: jobs, health issues, travel, children, parents, and cost). While Hemophilia of Georgia already has many wonderful programs to assist in these areas, as an internationally recognized provider of outstanding programs and services, HoG continually seeks ways to better serve our patients and clients. One of our most important goals is to ensure access to high-quality, comprehensive healthcare to those living with a bleeding disorder, so they can live as normally and productively as possible. However, we understand that it is not always feasible for people to make the trip to their chosen treatment center. This is the key reason HoG’s Telehealth Program was born. Yet the fact remains, HoG’s network of providers in the five HTCs servicing Georgia provide the best and most comprehensive care, clinical services, and guidance to the bleeding disorder community. This is accomplished through research, education, advocacy, and creating life-long trusting and caring relationships. Therefore, our goal all along has been to provide the high-quality, comprehensive care of an HTC in a virtual, telehealth setting…a very tall order. We are proud to say that the telehealth program has been a great success!
