Five Important Tips to Make Insurance Benefits Work for You
If you recently updated or changed your insurance coverage for the new year, make sure the Pharmacy Team at HoG knows. Not having up to date insurance information on file with Hemophilia of Georgia can cause problems and delays in payment or receiving medication. Spring is the perfect time to take charge of your health and your insurance benefits. Here are five simple things you can do to make the most of your insurance benefits:
- Any time you have an insurance change, call the HoG pharmacy to give us your new insurance information. If you receive a new card in the mail, that is a good indication your plan has changed.
- Be cautious of any insurance brokers who may try to get you to change your plan. They might switch you to a plan that is not accepted by all your providers.
- Know your out-of-pocket costs for your insurance plan. Always check your medical bills to make sure your insurance was sent the bill.
- Enroll in flexible spending money benefits with your job if that is offered.
- Ask for help if you need it.
Your Hemophilia of Georgia Outreach Social Worker can help you understand your benefits and offer guidance to help you stay insured. If you have questions, please contact your Social Worker or contact Emily Brown, Director of Social Work, at 770-518-8272.
