In the winter, some people use a fireplace to help heat their homes.  Other people may go camping and make fires outside.  Here are some tips to help everyone stay safe around fire.

• Never leave a fire unattended.
• Always make sure the fire is completely out before you leave.
• Make sure you have working smoke detectors in your house and change the batteries every 6 months.
• Keep a small fire extinguisher that is at least an A and B level and be familiar with the directions on it.
• Make sure to know the phone number for the emergency service in your area.
