Gynecologists and primary care providers often encounter bleeding or clotting challenges when seeing their patients. Given the complex interactions of various clotting factors or proteins and enzymes during the process of coagulation, there is a delicate balance between bleeding and clotting inside the body. Bleeding and clotting disorders pose unique problems for women, girls, and those who have/had the potential to menstruate because of the impact the disorders can have on their reproductive health and quality of life.
