Employee Spotlight on Theresa Schaffer
Please join us in welcoming Theresa Schaffer, LCSW, Director of Social Work at Hemophilia of Georgia (HoG). She joined HoG in April and assumed the responsibilities previously held by Gail Day. Theresa is originally from Miami, Florida, and attended the University of Florida. She came to Georgia to complete her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Georgia in Athens. Prior to HoG, Theresa worked at DeKalb Addiction Clinic with people seeking treatment for substance use disorders and behavioral health disorders.
Theresa is single and lives with her two cats (Frank and Beans). She is active and enjoys yoga, cycling, hiking, and art. She loves to travel and recently visited Cambodia and Vietnam. Theresa is adventurous and has eaten some unusual foods, like durian (the world’s smelliest fruit) and tarantulas (hairy spiders).
Theresa is passionate about getting people equal access to quality healthcare, regardless of income. She is learning the ropes and getting to know clients and staff at HoG. “Everyone has been so warm and welcoming,” Theresa shared. “I look forward to attending more client events and getting to know everyone better.”
