Employee Spotlight on Kim Williams

By Michelle Turkington, Director of Marketing and Communications

Published March 30, 2018

Kim WilliamsKim Williams is celebrating her 13th season as the Director of Camp and Client Events at Hemophilia of Georgia (HoG). A lot of people ask: Why do you want to work at HoG? There are a lot of other organizations out there, why work at this one? Do you have a family member or are you personally affected by an inherited bleeding disorder? The answer is simply, “no.” What she does have is a belief and a passion for the power of the camp experience.

She has seen campers gain independence by learning self-infusion, gain confidence by learning to swim and ride a bike for the first time, and build community with their cabin mates and counselors. On top of all of that, Camp Wannaklot is fun! Prior to working at Hemophilia of Georgia, Kim volunteered at Camp Wannaklot for three years. This experience introduced her to the bleeding disorder community, and the rest is history. Kim is also responsible for teen and adult retreats, family camps, and the many client dinners offered throughout the state.

Kim holds a Master of Science in youth development leadership from Clemson University and a Bachelor of Science in human services from Kennesaw State University and is a certified nonprofit professional. She chose her profession because she wanted to spend her time in a way that served her community.

Born and raised in the metro Atlanta area, Kim has a long history of volunteering and
serving her community. When she’s not at an HoG event, you will find Kim at home with
her husband (Nathan), her dogs (Oscar and Abby), and her cats (Smokey and Bandit). Kim serves as a board member and volunteer mentor at Healing Hands Youth Ranch in Waleska, GA. She and her husband also enjoy providing a foster home for adoptable animals through Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue in Kennesaw, GA.
