Board Member Spotlight: Meet Neca Smith

Have you ever wondered about some of the companies that you do business with?  How important are their customers to their business and what, in fact, do they think of them? Are their customers treated respectfully? What about their employees; are they happy and how long have they been with the company? Do you find when you call a company that you have to repeat yourself because the last person you spoke with on a matter is no longer there? Clearly, the answers we provide to these questions are telltale signs of a company’s culture.

So what does all of the above have to do with this Board Member Spotlight? Well, let me introduce you to Neca Smith, one of our organization’s newest Board Members and a former employee of Hemophilia of Georgia!  Neca worked for HoG from September 1999 through March 2003. She went on to further her education, obtaining a Professional Counselor License (GA) and Certification for General Mediation (GA), in addition to becoming a Certified Anger Management Specialist and Certified Professional in Managing Workplace Conflict. In 2005, she established her own consulting firm, AidevO People Consulting, LLC.  She is a member of the National Association of Women Owned Businesses, American Society of Training & Development (Atlanta Chapter) and the Society of Human Resources Management (Atlanta Chapter).

Neca’s consulting services include: behavior change, conflict management/resolution, anger and emotional intelligence, stress management, assertiveness training, effective communication, team building, job readiness, career coaching……get the picture?  And if this weren’t enough, she’s also published several books and written articles on these topics as well.  In fact, one of her books is currently making the rounds at Hemophilia of Georgia!

So, what does it say about an individual and a company when a former employee comes back to serve in a “volunteer” capacity on their former employer’s Board of Directors?  Well, I’ll let you be the judge of that…..
