2017 Trot to Clot Walk at SunTrust Park
Thank you so much for supporting the Trot to Clot Walk at SunTrust Park. Hemophilia of Georgia has the honor of being the first nonprofit to hold a walk event at SunTrust Park, the new home of the Atlanta Braves. The May 6 event was packed full of fun that featured music, food, face painting, a photo cube, games, and prizes. More than 300 people attended the event, making this year’s Trot to Clot our largest ever. Proceeds benefit Camp Wannaklot, the only camp in Georgia for children with bleeding disorders.
If you were there, you know the energy was vibrant. Atlanta Fever Entertainment donated their services and DJ Omar kept the crowd hopping. Attendees were dancing to the music even while they were checking in.
As the early morning crowd gathered at the lower level concourse, they were entertained by the Cosplayer Volunteers of Atlanta, dressed as Star Wars characters. Breakfast and coffee, provided by Atlanta Bread Company, Dunkin' Donuts, Smoothie King, and Quik Trip, started the morning off with a zing.
The Trot to Clot Walk was officially kicked off by Darth Vader and friends at the starting line. Attendees enjoyed walking the inside perimeter of the stadium, as they participated in the scavenger hunt. Along the way, they enjoyed and admired the beautiful Hank Aaron monument garden.
Mag-nificent of Atlanta donated a “photo cube,” which was a big hit. The photo cube snapped pictures of attendees with the baseball stadium as a backdrop. Guests not only got a photo postcard of their experience, but they could instantly email or text friends and family. Photos from the photo cube are available for download at https://mag-nificent.com/find-your-photos.
The old-fashioned cake walk proved to be a timeless favorite for kids of all ages. Listening to some great popular hits, people walked and danced around the numbered circle in anticipation of their number being called. The prize table held a delicious display of cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and chocolate covered pretzels.
Team Lucas, led by Dr. David Hall, was the Trot to Clot fundraising team winner of two round-trip Delta Airline tickets. We are so grateful to our supporters, fundraisers and the other dedicated teams who raised money for Camp Wannaklot.
The fun continued as the ballpark awakened that evening. The rain didn’t stop the fans from coming out to enjoy Star Wars night at SunTrust Park while watching the Atlanta Braves take on the St. Louis Cardinals.
We appreciate everyone who volunteered, donated, sponsored, and participated at the 2017 Trot to Clot. We count on our community to make the Camp Wannaklot dream possible for kids with bleeding disorders. Thank you for your time and dedication. We couldn’t do it without you.
