Bleeding Disorder Camps
There are summer camps designed for children with bleeding disorders. At these camps, the children can try new sports and activities. Nurses and doctors are there to handle any problems. Hemophilia of Georgia runs a week-long camp for children in Georgia who have bleeding disorders. It is called Camp Wannaklot.
The National Bleeding Disorders Foundation keeps a directory of summer camps for children with bleeding disorders on its website.
Each year, the Arizona Hemophilia Association offers NACCHO - the North American Camping Conference of Hemophilia Organizations. This three-day conference brings together volunteers and professionals from bleeding disorder camps around the country. There are professional speakers and sharing of new ideas and best practices.
