Celebrating 25 years: A Yankee and a Southern Belle Unite to Improve Care and Treatment
By Trish Dominic, CEO
In April, we celebrated Ruth Brown’s 25th anniversary at Hemophilia of Georgia. Ruth serves as Vice President of Programs at HoG. When I first met Ruth, I was a newly transplanted Yankee and she appeared to be a Southern Belle. She grew up on the beaches of South Carolina, swimming, shelling and basking in the sun. I grew up in central Pennsylvania sledding, ice skating and enduring many cold, dark, snowy days. She liked her vegetables raw and ate salads for lunch. I preferred mine cooked and ate homemade soup. She ate the top of the turnip and I ate the bottom.
These two very different people advanced their careers at HoG alongside one another. We came together to accomplish the mission with a shared vision and have worked with many wonderful people along the way. We have helped improve the quality of life for people with a bleeding disorder and worked diligently to find the best care providers for those we serve. We have traveled together often, always searching for the best fried shrimp every place we went. I am so very glad to have worked with Ruth Brown and to have shared so much of my life and work with her. Thank you, Ruth, for working with me, even if you still eat the top of the turnip.
